Mr. Roedel has served as a member of the Board since 2005 and as non-executive Chairman of the Board since 2010.  In March 2024, Mr. Roedel was appointed Interim Executive Chairman and Interim President. Mr. Roedel has extensive board experience and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of BrightView Holdings, Inc., LSB Industries, Inc. and Clarivate Plc. Mr. Roedel serves as non-executive chair of LSB Industries. In May 2021, Mr. Roedel retired from the board of Six Flags Entertainment, Inc. where he served as the Non-Executive Chair. Mr. Roedel has previously served on boards of IHS Markit Ltd, Lorillard, Inc., Sealy Corporation, BrightPoint, Inc., Broadview Holdings, Inc., Dade Behring Holdings, Inc., and TakeTwo Interactive Software, Inc. Mr. Roedel is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Risk Oversight Advisory Council. Mr. Roedel served a three-year term, ending in 2017, on the Standing Advisory Group of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). From 1971 through 2000, he was employed by BDO Seidman LLP, becoming an audit partner in 1980, later being promoted in 1990 to managing partner in Chicago and then managing partner in New York in 1994, and finally, in 1999, to chair and chief executive officer. Mr. Roedel holds a B.S. degree in accounting from The Ohio State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Alex Davern, Advisor to the Company

Advisor to the Company

Alex Davern was named an Advisor to the Company on May 1, 2024. Mr. Davern was previously the CEO of National Instruments, a leading provider of software-connected automated test and measurement systems, where he started working in 1994 and was a key member of the team that drove annual revenue from $100 million to more than $1.3 billion during his tenure which ended in 2020. He continued to serve as a Director of National Instruments until the Company was acquired by Emerson in October 2023.

In 2021, Mr. Davern was appointed Chairman of ESI Group, a virtual prototyping and simulation software company, to lead a process to enhance the company’s performance and strategic direction which culminated in a sale of ESI Group to Keysight Technologies in November 2023. Mr. Davern currently serves on the boards of directors for FARO Technologies and Cirrus Logic.

During his tenure at National Instruments, Mr. Davern also served as President, COO, Executive Vice President, CFO, Treasurer, Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller, and International Controller. Before joining National Instruments, he worked in Europe and the U.S. for the international accounting firm Price Waterhouse LLP.

Mr. Davern holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce and a postgraduate diploma in professional accounting from University College Dublin in Ireland.

Kevin Ilcisin, Advisor to the Company

Kevin Ilcisin was named an Advisor to the Company on May 1, 2024. Mr. Ilcisin is the co-founder of the advisory firm Juniper Strategies. Prior to founding Juniper, Mr. Ilcisin served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at National Instruments where he led several acquisitions as well as the sale of National Instruments to Emerson.  Prior to National Instruments, he was the Chief Technology officer of Tektronix, a subsidiary of Fortive, a spin-off of Danaher Corporation, where he managed strategic planning and technology growth initiatives.

Mr. Ilcisin has also held several general management and technology executive roles in the semiconductor equipment, consumer electronics, and energy research industries, including start-ups and scale ups.  

Mr. Ilcisin holds a Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Plasma Physics from Princeton University and B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with Distinction from the University of Alberta.

John Roiko was named Chief Financial Officer on May 1, 2024. Prior to joining Luna, Mr. Roiko most recently served as Chief Accounting Officer, overseeing National Instruments’ global accounting organization. Mr. Roiko had previously served a number of senior financial roles at National Instruments, including as Vice President, Finance, and Interim Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining National Instruments, Mr. Roiko worked as a product line controller for the defense division at Honeywell before moving to Emerson Process Management as the North Americas accounting manager. Mr. Roiko then pursued start-up opportunities as the Chief Financial Officer for Columbia Scientific and director of accounting for Arrowsmith Technologies.

Mr. Roiko holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting from St. Cloud State University and a master’s degree from Minnesota State University.

Will Denman

Senior Vice President, Sales, North America

Will Denman joined Luna on May 1,2024 as Senior Vice President, Sales North America and brings over 20 years of experience in developing and leading world class strategic sales and marketing organizations. Most recently, Mr. Denman served as the Senior Vice President of Global Sales

and Marketing at National Instruments where he was responsible for the company's full $1.7B in revenue and a team of 600 people. Mr. Denman is known as a skilled developer of talent and as a leader that transformed the National Instrument’s Go-To-Market organization, resulting in sustained multi-year growth and significant customer impact amongst many of the world's most prominent companies. He holds a MBA from the University of Denver, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Computer Science minor from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Eva Hartmann joined Luna in October 2022 as Senior Vice President of Human Resources with more than 25 years of experience as a strategic, results-driven and innovative Human Resources leader, and has worked in a variety of industries, from engineering to Fortune 500 consulting. She is a transformational change agent who has developed and led strategic human capital programs and talent initiatives in multiple challenging environments globally.

Before joining the Luna team, she was the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and EVP for Schnabel Engineering, an award-winning engineering consulting firm headquartered in Glen Allen, Virginia. She was also the founder and President of Trellis LLC, a human capital consulting and staffing firm.  Prior to Trellis, Ms. Hartmann was the Global Human Resources Director for Tredegar Film Products, a global manufacturer of plastic film products, and was responsible for the HR Strategy and Operations of a $600 million international division. 

Ms. Hartmann holds an MBA from the College of William and Mary and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Virginia. In 2021, she was one of 30 women in Virginia recognized for leadership and mentorship as a recipient of the inaugural Virginia Business publication’s Women in Leadership Award.

Thomas Oldemeyer joined the executive team as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of EMEA in July 2023. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, he has a deep history of leading innovation in fiber optic sensing technology and is successful in technical environments.

Mr. Oldemeyer previously served as CEO of LIOS Technology for nearly twelve years before transitioning to its parent company, NKT Photonics Technology. Before this, he served as Sales Director for NSK. He holds an MBA in Marketing and International Business from the University of Paderborn.

Ryan H. Stewart joined Luna in January 2024 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Mr. Stewart leads all legal, compliance, and regulatory matters, as well as actively participates in Board of Directors matters.

Prior to joining the Luna team, Mr. Stewart served as General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer and Corporate Secretary of TMEIC Corporation Americas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba and Mitsubishi-Electric, where he managed all legal functions, and provided a broad range of high-level risk management advice and counsel to a diversified global industrial solutions enterprise. Prior to that, Mr. Stewart was the Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Alliance One International, Inc. (NYSE: AOI), a global agricultural concern, and a lawyer in the Corporate and Securities practice group of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP (now Womble Bond Dickinson). Mr. Stewart holds a J.D. in Business Law from Elon University and a B.A. in Philosophy from St. Lawrence University.

Allison Woody, Senior Director of Administration

Allison L. Woody joined the leadership team as Director of Administration in April 2019 and was promoted to Senior Director of Administration in December 2022 .  In her role, she supports investor relations and is responsible for the company’s stock plan administration and corporate communications. In addition, she serves as a liaison to the Board of Directors.  She began her career at Luna in 2012 and served in both the marketing and human resources departments. 


Prior to joining Luna, Ms. Woody served in various marketing roles where she was responsible for developing and implementing marketing concepts and solutions to meet corporate standards.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech.
